Opera Nova - Carmen (Hartlepool Music Society)
Artist Information: Opera Nova
Opera Nova are delighted to be returning to Hartlepool Town Hall with this new, semi-staged production of Bizet's popular opera, CARMEN conducted by Richard Bloodworth and accompanied by Alison Gill.
Love, jealousy, intrigue and murder – who could ask for more? Combining a great story and numerous familiar tunes for soloists and chorus alike, Carmen includes exciting gypsy music such as the Habanera with beautifully romantic arias such as Don Jose's Flower Song. And let's not forget the most well-known of all – the Toreador's Song. This is a great opera for newcomers and aficionados alike.
Founded in the late 1960s by John Morton and Iris Lemare, Opera Nova carries a proud legacy of achievement in promoting opera in the area. It has over the years performed a wide range of operas ranging from La Traviata, Falstaff and The Marriage of Figaro, to works by 20th century composers such as Britten and Menotti.
