About
Visit the pretty village of Greatham on the outskirts of Hartlepool. It was here that the well-to-do early west Hartlepudlians moved to in the nineteenth century. Ralph Ward Jackson, a famous Hartlepudlian, moved to Greatham Hall during his time of power in the nineteenth century. The only remaining marks of his stay are in the churchyard where he made a point of erecting tombstones over domestic workers who died in his service, recording thereon his appreciation of their labours. Nowadays Greatham is well worth a stop for a nice bite to eat at one of its traditional English pubs.
